Description

Antique Toile de Jouy on linen fabric measuring 15 inches by 20 inches. Off white ground with pink flowers, blue leaves and and brown lines and details. There are flowers and leaves on one part, and a wavy pillar on the the other part. The fabric is only in fair condition. It looks like it was pieced together, but expertly done. This was previously part of a museum collection and still has it's catalog tag that reads "Toile de Jouy - Louis XIV". This is probably a circa 1800s textile. Textile production actually decreased under Louis XIV, so I am not sure what that reference is intended to mean.
