| Vintage booklet titled 300 Household Hints by Muir's Department Store. Undated, but obviously old. There are cooking hints, cleaning hints, furniture hints, a whole bunch of uses for salt, stain removing, storage hints, and more!
Here's one such hint:
Number 164 Colored wool rugs which have faded may be brightened by rubbing with a flannel dipped in warm water to which a little vinegar and common salt have been added. Dry in the open air.
