Antique, circa 1900s, Monkey Wrench pattern quilt measuring 77 by 82 inches. The pattern is also called Shoo Fly, Churn Dash, and more. There are 36 blocks measuring about 10 inches square and 2.5 inches wide double pink sashing with indigo cornerstones. Other fabrics include stripes and plaids. The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted at 6 spi, with a very thin batting. It is quilted in a grid pattern, through the center of each individual square in each block and continues through the sashing. Binding is .5 inches wide, on grain, and was applied by machine to the front, and by hand to the back. The backing is a double pink fabric as well and would have measured about 23 inches wide. The quilt is in excellent condition. |
