An absolute treasure of a find! Antique Sampler quilt top measuring 101 by 84 inches. There are 30 blocks measuring about 12 inches square, sashed in a cheddar, with turkey red cornerstones. Each block is different, thus a sampler, and about all of these patterns can be found in Ladies Art Company or Clara Stone’s Patterns. The most obvious blocks, in the center spell out B E D Q U I L T (just in case you didn’t know what the piece was for). Other blocks include Buckeye Beauty, Joseph’s Coat, Patience Corners, Old Tippecanoe, Lightning, Honey Comb, Cross and Crown, Pine Burr, Ohio Star, Dutch Rose, Vice President’s Quilt, Cake Stand, The X Quisite, Flutter Wheel, Basket of Chips, Spider Web, Garfield’s Monument (w/o the G), Crossed Canoes, and Rail Fence. One block I was not able to determine. Shall we talk fabulous fabrics? A wide variety of 19th century fabrics: stripes, plaids, turkey red, shirtings, neon, novelty shirtings in abundance!, indgios, double pinks, overdyed green, and more. It is hand pieced. In very good condition. Two fabrics by the edges have tears. This quilt top was purchased in Pennsylvania, but was tagged by a previous dealer as being from NY state.
