| Vintage 1940s quilt measuring 72 by 90 inches. Twelve blocks measuring 12.5 inches square each with basket of three flowers and a leaf. Fabrics are all cotton, many are feedsacks. It is sashed with a 4 inch pieced aqua and white striped sashing, and 9 patch cornerstones. It is bordered with a mitered white 4 inch border and a mitered 6 inch aqua border. It is bound with a three eighths inch binding, on grain. The quilt is machine pieced but hand appliqued, hand embroidered and hand quilted at 7 spi. Quilted motifs include flowers, echo quilting, cable with flowers and leaf and vines. White cotton backing and thin batting. Purchased in Frenchtown, NJ. It is in excellent condition. |
