| Vintage, circa 1940s quilt in an Old Maid’s Puzzle quilt pattern. This pattern is also called Hour Glass or School Girl’s Puzzle.
The quilt measures 81 inches by 72 inches. It consists of 42 blocks, each 9 inches square with 2.25 inch sashing and 1.75 inch border. The backing is a sweet pink, yellow, and white stripe fabric.
It is machine and hand pieced, hand quilted at 9 spi, with bias binding machine applied to the front and hand applied on the back.
The condition is good, there is fading, one discoloration on the front, and the binding is fraying.
There is a wonderful array of fabrics in this quilt from the 1930s and 1940s. It has been used and washed and loved, and its softness is proof of that. This would be a lovely decorative piece and will brighten any room.
