Vintage quilt from the circa 1950s in a 9 patch quilt pattern. It measures 62 inches by 78 inches. It consists of 63 blocks, each 6.5 inches square with 2.25 pink with white flower sashing and yellow cornerstones. The binding is 1.5 inches wide and is the backing fabric brought to the front. It is machine pieced and hand quilted at 7 spi.
Some people might look at this quilt and think…what was she thinking? The colors are busy and overwhelming, the prints are out of scale. This is quilting for the love of quilting. She used what she had to do what she loved. I don’t think the quilt was ever used, so I don’t think it was made out of necessity.
There are some really fun fabric in this quilt, like the little beanie hat with propellers, and the backing is pieced with 2 wonderful typical 50s fabrics.
It is in excellent condition, never used, with a minor cedar chest odor. I purchased this quilt while in Paducah, KY from the daughter of the quiltmaker, Gladys Hazzanon from Marion, KY.
