Vintage quilt from the circa 1950s in a album block quilt pattern. It measures 62 inches by 82 inches. It consists of 30 blocks, each 10 inches square with 2.275 pink flower and blue flower sashing and white cornerstones. The binding is the backing fabric brought to the front. It is machine pieced and hand quilted at 6 spi.
Some people might look at this quilt and think…what was she thinking? The colors are busy and overwhelming, the prints are out of scale. This is quilting for the love of quilting. She used what she had to do what she loved. I don’t think the quilt was ever used, so I don’t think it was made out of necessity.
There are some really fun fabric in this quilt, like the little pink piggies, the little ladies with the buildings and the backing is pieced with 2 wonderful typical 50s fabrics, Jamaican or other island fabric with music, and a novelty kitchen fabric.
It is in very good condition, never used, with a minor cedar chest odor. I purchased this quilt while in Paducah, KY from the daughter of the quiltmaker, Gladys Hazzanon from Marion, KY.
