Vintage Amish Center Diamond Quilt circa 1940, measuring 82 by 82 inches. The quilt is made of rayon fabrics: turquoise, pink, and a wine purple, with a black binding, and silver grey backing.
The center diamond measures 33 by 33 inches with a hand quilted medallion star in the center with a wreath, and 4 small stars at each corner. The pink triangles are hand quilted with roses and leaves. The turquoise inner border measures 4.5 inches wide and is hand quilted with a vine of flowers and leaves, each corner is a pink square. The wine purple border is 13.5 inches wide with a hand quilted flower chain. The quilt is quilted in teal blue thread at 8 spi, very even stitches. The binding is 1 inch wide black rayon. It is machine pieced. The backing is a silver rayon fabric, a little on the flashy side! In very good condition, one corner (upper left in the first pic) has a couple of spots. The fabric was quite reflective, so the color changes you see are not fading or discolorations.
