Two of two vintage Bluework quilts. They were purchased in Pennsylvania, but tagged NJ 1925. It measures 60 by 88 inches. It has 24 blocks that measure about 8 inches square. There is a 4.5 inch sashing in block cotton, a 4 inch wide border, a 4.25 inch white border and a .5 inch blue bias binding with in the scalloped edge. The quilt is hand embroidered, machine pieced, and hand quilted at 10spi. The embroidered blocks include Girl with Goose, Puppy Drinking, Elephant with Palm trees, man feeding a Squirrel, Boy with a Dog, Birds, Cat with a Fiddle, Flowers, Dutch Girl Waving Goodbye to a Ship, Girl baking, Girl. Feeding Chickens, Girl Kissing a Bird, Peter Rabbit, Boy with a Polar Bear, Humpty Dumpty, and more. It is quilted in each block in a radiating X pattern, in the sashing and blue border with a cross hatch pattern and a feather circle at each intersection. The white border has a quilted chain motif. There is a thin batting and a blue cotton backing. Condition is good…some fading in the sashing.
