Description
Vintage carousel spool caddy with a pin cushion on top. Circa 1920s or earlier. It measures about 11 inches high. The base measures 5.5 inches in diameter and holds 10 spools. The middle measures about 4 inches in diameter and holds 6 spools. The uppermost level measures about 2.5 inches in diameter and holds 4 spools. The caddy is topped with a pin cushion, possibly made from a cotton twill. The piece was painted red and is crackling. What I thought was really neat was that between each level are empty spools up the middle. Very primitive, not a commercial piece. Condition is fair. The paint is fading, crackling, etc. The pin cushion has a small tear. The vintage thread was found on the caddy and is included. There are 4 silks and 4 cottons.
