Vintage quilt, circa 1930s, measuring 69 by 72 inches. Wonderfully graphic in its orange with white muslin fabrics. The pattern is a slight variation of number 1206a in Brackman’s Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, Hen and Chicks, as well as Handy Andy and Ducks and Ducklings. There are 168 blocks, each measuring about 5.75 inches square. This quilt was machine pieced and hand quilted at 9 spi by the piece and in the border in a diamond pattern. The quilting is absolutely spectacular in this quilt as you can see from the back. The edges were finished by bringing the front fabric to the back and hand applying. The quilt is in good condition. There are several spots on the front and back, I have photographed the worst of them.
