| 23 vintage quilt blocks, probably from the 1930s. Brown cotton broadcloth with a brown and white cotton floral with a bit of orange and blue. They are machine sewn, but not squared up, yet. They measure about 6.25" square. 11 have the floral print in the center, 12 have the solid in the center. Barbara Brackman's "Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns" calls this "Diamond in the Square", amongst other names. It you combine 4 blocks together, they will make a "Pavement" Pattern or a "Shoofly" Pattern. There are some discolorations due to age, otherwise no other stains. They are odor free and no holes or tears. They have not been washed or pressed...I shall leave that decision up to the final owner. |
