Vintage Wreath of Roses Quilt, circa 1930s, probably a Carly Sexton design Number 2.4 in Barbara Brackman’s “Encyclopedia of Applique Quilt Patterns”. It measures 88 by 88 inches. Each block consists of a green leaf wreath with 5 pink flowers with yellow centers and French Knots in black thread. One pink flower is in the center of each wreath. The ground is a pristine white with a 8 inch border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted at 9 spi. It is quilted by the piece, cross hatch in the center, and double diagonal lines in the border. There are also four large flower or wheel motifs, one where each block intersects another. Beautiful workmanship. The binding is a pink bias binding, machine and hand applied. Backing is a white cotton. Thin batting. In very good condition. Very clean. Just one green leaf needs to be mended, it has 2 small holes in it.
